BRYN ATHYN, Pa. — The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s lacrosse team delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, April 19, defeating Bryn Athyn College 21-1 in United East Conference (UEC) play. The Seahawks (8-6, 3-0 UEC) showcased a balanced attack with 13 players scoring, securing their eighth win of the season against the Lions (3-5-1, 1-2-0 UEC).
The game saw St. Mary’s surge to an 18-0 lead by the fourth quarter, with 7:55 remaining. Bryn Athyn’s Dylan Fesmire broke the shutout with a man-up goal, but the Seahawks’ relentless offense and stout defense ensured a lopsided victory. St. Mary’s outshot Bryn Athyn 77-3, controlled 24 of 26 face-offs, and held a 36-11 edge in ground balls, while forcing 16 of the Lions’ 29 turnovers.

Junior Matteo Ciccarello from Crofton, Maryland, went a perfect 12-for-12 in face-offs and collected nine ground balls, while first-year Drake Erisman from Pasadena, Maryland, won 11 of 13 face-offs and added five ground balls. The Seahawks’ +16 turnover margin underscored their defensive pressure, with senior defensive midfielder Marcus Coleman from Annapolis, Maryland, causing a career-best three turnovers, scoring a goal, and recording his first career assist.
First-year attackman Mike Machiran from Ellicott City, Maryland, led St. Mary’s with a career-high three goals. First-year Owen Wynot from Kent Island, Maryland, contributed five points, matching his career best with two goals and a career-high three assists. Sophomore Ty Grove from Finksburg, Maryland, and first-year Ty Spencer from Hanover, Maryland, split goalkeeping duties, with Grove making one save and Spencer securing a ground ball.
Bryn Athyn’s goalkeeper Christian Kalb made 21 saves, facing a barrage of shots from the Seahawks’ offense. The Lions struggled to generate offense, managing only three shots, with Fesmire’s goal as their lone score.
