LEONARDTOWN, Md. — St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested two suspects, Cameron David Louis Curtis, 22, of Valley Lee, and Peyton James Robert Curtis, 20, of Callaway, on May 6, 2025, following a shooting in Great Mills that injured three men. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of May 3, 2025, near Chancellors Run Road and Pegg Road, stemming from an altercation the previous evening.

Deputies on proactive patrol heard gunfire around 2 a.m. on May 3 and located a vehicle with four adult male occupants, three of whom had sustained gunshot wounds. Two victims were airlifted to an area hospital and are listed in stable condition, while the third declined medical treatment. The fourth occupant was unharmed. The shooter fled the scene before deputies arrived, prompting an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division.

Through investigative efforts, detectives identified Cameron Curtis and Peyton Curtis as suspects. An arrest warrant was issued for Cameron Curtis, who was apprehended at 9:40 a.m. on May 6. He faces charges including four counts of attempted first-degree murder, four counts of attempted second-degree murder, four counts of first-degree assault, four counts of second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony crime of violence, handgun in vehicle, and loaded handgun in vehicle.

Peyton Curtis was arrested at 2:15 p.m. on May 6 after an interview with detectives. His charges include four counts of attempted first-degree murder, four counts of attempted second-degree murder, four counts of first-degree assault, four counts of second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony crime of violence, two counts of carrying a loaded handgun on person, and two counts of a loaded handgun in a vehicle. Both suspects were transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, where they await bond hearings.

The investigation revealed that the shooting was not random but resulted from a prior altercation, though specific details about the conflict were not disclosed. The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate, and no additional suspects have been identified at this time. Authorities are seeking public assistance to gather further information.
