Portland, ME – The Bowie Baysox swept the Portland Sea Dogs in a doubleheader at Delta Dental Park on May 7, 2025, winning Game 1 by a score of 4-3 in eight innings and Game 2 by a score of 2-1. The victories improved the Baysox’s record to 15-14, maintaining their third-place standing in the Eastern League’s Southwest Division, while the Sea Dogs fell to 16-11, holding third in the Northeast Division.

In Game 1, the Baysox overcame a 3-0 deficit, tying the game in the sixth inning with three runs, driven by Tavian Josenberger’s sacrifice fly, Anthony Servideo’s single, and Hudson Haskin’s groundout. The go-ahead run came in the eighth when Josenberger singled, scoring pinch-runner Luis Valdez. Preston Johnson earned the win, pitching three scoreless innings with five strikeouts, while Keagan Gillies secured his fourth save. Wyatt Olds took the loss for Portland after allowing the tying and go-ahead runs. The Baysox committed two errors, but Servideo’s outfield assist helped limit Portland’s scoring.

Game 2 saw the Baysox capitalize on an early error by Portland’s pitcher Jack Anderson, allowing Adam Retzbach to score in the second inning. Retzbach’s double in the fourth scored Creed Willems, giving Bowie a 2-1 lead. Edgar Portes earned his first win, and Gerald Ogando notched his second save. Anderson took the loss after allowing both Baysox runs. Portland’s six hits, including doubles by Jhostynxon Garcia and Blaze Jordan, weren’t enough to overcome Bowie’s pitching, led by Juan Nuñez’s six strikeouts.

The Baysox’s offense in Game 1 featured six hits, with Josenberger and Servideo each driving in runs, while Retzbach went 2-for-3 with two doubles in Game 2. Portland struggled with runners in scoring position, going 1-for-13 in Game 1 and 1-for-7 in Game 2, leaving 22 runners on base across both games. Ahbram Liendo stole two bases for the Sea Dogs in Game 1, but Bowie’s defense, including a pickoff by Nuñez in Game 2, stifled Portland’s baserunning.

Both games saw strong pitching performances. Bowie’s staff combined for 21 strikeouts across the doubleheader, with Johnson and Gillies shutting down Portland late in Game 1. Portland’s pitchers, including Yordanny Monegro and Jonathan Brand, kept the Baysox’s offense in check but couldn’t prevent key scoring plays. The games, played under cloudy and clear conditions respectively, drew 3,618 fans to Delta Dental Park, with Game 1 delayed 48 minutes due to rain.
