LEONARDTOWN, Md., May 15, 2025 — Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jeffrey Keith Reid, 57, of Lexington Park, on May 15 after a four-hour standoff at a residence in the 48000 block of Spring Lake Drive. Reid, wanted for Escape Second Degree after removing his court-ordered ankle monitor, was taken into custody without incident following a search warrant execution. The operation involved the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Team and Hostage Negotiation Team, with nearby residents advised to evacuate or shelter in place.

The incident began at approximately 10 a.m. when a witness reported a suspicious vehicle parked at a residence believed to be unoccupied. Deputies confirmed the home was linked to Reid, who had an active arrest warrant for escaping pretrial release conditions related to charges of Second-Degree Assault and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Injure. After Reid failed to respond to multiple verbal commands to exit the residence, deputies declared a barricade and secured the area, ensuring the situation remained contained to the single home.

A search warrant was obtained, and at around 2:30 p.m., deputies entered the residence, locating Reid alone inside. He was arrested peacefully and transported by emergency medical services to a medical facility for evaluation before being transferred to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown.

No injuries were reported during the operation, and the Sheriff’s Office lifted safety advisories for the surrounding area shortly after the arrest.
