HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Chesapeake Baysox, Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, staged a comeback to defeat the Harrisburg Senators, Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, 3-2, on May 20, 2025, at FNB Field. Trailing 2-0 early, the Baysox (19-20) capitalized on two Senators errors and leaned on a stellar bullpen performance to secure the victory, improving their record against Harrisburg (19-21).
The Senators struck first in the second inning, scoring two runs off Baysox starter Juan Nuñez. Cayden Wallace delivered an RBI single, and Jared McKenzie followed with an RBI triple, building a 2-0 lead. Nuñez pitched two and two-thirds innings, striking out five but allowing three hits. The Baysox bullpen took over, delivering six and one-third scoreless innings. Nate Webb, in his Baysox debut, threw one and one-third scoreless innings, while Peter Van Loon added three scoreless frames, escaping a jam in the sixth with help from a sliding catch by right fielder Hudson Haskin.

Chesapeake’s offense tied the game in the fourth, exploiting an error by Harrisburg first baseman Joe Naranjo. Max Wagner scored on a groundout by Adam Retzbach, and Haskin’s two-out single to right drove in Doug Hodo, knotting the score at 2-2 against Senators starter Kyle Luckham. The game remained deadlocked until the ninth. Hodo, who reached base three times, walked and stole second off reliever Michael Cuevas (L, 2-1). Retzbach’s grounder to shortstop Kevin Made prompted a throw to third, but the ball deflected off third baseman Yohandy Morales, allowing Hodo to score the go-ahead run on Harrisburg’s second error.
Right-hander Gerald Ogando (W, 1-0) pitched a scoreless eighth, and Keagan Gillies (S, 5) closed with a scoreless ninth, sealing the 3-2 win. The Baysox bullpen, with a season ERA of 3.04—third in Double-A and fifth in full-season Minor League Baseball—shined throughout.
Enrique Bradfield Jr., the Orioles’ No. 3 prospect, returned from the injured list and went 1-for-4 with a single and a stolen base in his first Baysox game since April 10. His speed and defensive skills bolstered Chesapeake’s lineup.
The Baysox continue their six-game series in Harrisburg on May 21, 2025, with right-hander Trace Bright (1-4, 6.75 ERA) scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. ET. Chesapeake returns home to face the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets, starting May 27 at 6:35 p.m.
FNB Field, home of the Senators, hosted a competitive matchup between two Eastern League teams vying for position in the standings. The Baysox’s ability to capitalize on defensive miscues and rely on their bullpen underscores their resilience. With Bradfield’s return and a strong relief corps, Chesapeake aims to build momentum in the series and their upcoming homestand.
