LA PLATA, Md. — The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) softball team capped a stellar 2025 season with six players earning NJCAA Region 20 All-Region honors, reflecting their 21-8-1 record and MDJUCO conference championship. Led by head coach Keith Sanderson, the Hawks showcased a dynamic offense and resilient pitching, securing a 2-1 series win over Hagerstown to advance to the Region 20 semifinal against CCBC Catonsville, where their remarkable season concluded.
Laci Johnson, a standout infielder, earned First Team All-Region 20 honors with a .590 batting average, 15 home runs, 120 total bases, and 49 RBIs. Her power at the plate drove CSM’s offensive dominance, making her a cornerstone of the team’s success. Outfielder Megan Chroniger also secured First Team recognition, posting a .500 batting average, 25 RBIs, 8 home runs, and 91 total bases. Her consistent hitting and outfield presence bolstered the Hawks’ lineup.
Second Team All-Region 20 selections included infielder Lexi Drayer, who hit .500 with 29 RBIs, 5 home runs, and 81 total bases, proving her value as a reliable offensive force. Pitcher Katelyn Tkach earned Second Team honors in the battery category, logging 95.2 innings with a 4.10 ERA and 76 strikeouts, showcasing durability and skill in the circle. Outfielder Dakota Headley rounded out the Second Team with a .422 batting average, 35 RBIs, and 48 total bases, delivering in critical moments.
Infielder Kit Shrewsbury received Honorable Mention recognition, batting .434 with 35 RBIs and 72 total bases. Her steady performance at the plate contributed significantly to CSM’s balanced attack.
The Hawks’ 21-8-1 season, under Sanderson’s leadership, marked a high point for the program. Their MDJUCO conference title and postseason run, highlighted by the series win over Hagerstown, demonstrated their offensive depth and defensive grit.
