AKRON, Ohio — The Chesapeake Baysox rallied late to defeat the Akron RubberDucks 4-2 in a 10-inning contest at Canal Park on June 4, 2025, snapping a five-game losing streak. Enrique Bradfield Jr.’s two-run home run in the 10th inning secured the victory for the Baysox, who improved to 24-28 and fourth place in the Eastern League’s Southwest Division.
The game, attended by 2,700 fans, saw the Baysox overcome an early 2-0 deficit. Bradfield’s first home run of the season, a two-out shot off Akron reliever Ross Carver, drove in Reed Trimble, who started the inning on second base under extra-inning rules. “GET OUTTA HERE !!!! In the ninth, pinch-runner Luis Valdez scored on Adam Retzbach’s bunt groundout, tying the game at 2-2 after stealing second and third base.
Baysox starter Trace Bright pitched six innings, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out seven. Keagan Gillies earned the win, improving to 4-1, with two scoreless innings. Akron’s Carter Spivey threw six innings, giving up one run on four hits. Carver took the loss, falling to 1-2, after allowing Bradfield’s decisive homer.
The Baysox showcased defensive prowess, turning a double play and catching two Akron runners stealing. Valdez stole two bases, and Bencosme added one, contributing to the team’s aggressive baserunning. Akron, now 35-18 and second in the Southwest Division, struggled with runners in scoring position, going 1-for-6.
