ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. — Three St. Mary’s College of Maryland baseball players, Cole Tarleton, Ryder Chalk, and Rhett Fletcher, earned spots on the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Baseball Team, announced on June 3, 2025. The trio was recognized for their excellence both on the field and in the classroom, meeting the CSC’s rigorous criteria for academic and athletic achievement.

The CSC Academic All-District® Baseball Team honors student-athletes across NCAA divisions and the NAIA who excel as starters or key reserves while maintaining at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA. Eligibility requires sophomore standing in both academics and athletics. Tarleton, a senior, secured his third consecutive All-District selection and advances to the national ballot for CSC Academic All-America® honors, with results due July 1.

Tarleton, a Hollywood, Maryland, native, graduated with a 3.759 GPA as an economics and business administration double major. He made the Dean’s List every semester and was named a 2023 United East Conference Scholar-Athlete. Tarleton also earned spots on the 2024 and 2025 United East Winter/Spring All-Academic Teams and was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the national college athlete honor society. On the field, he was the 2025 United East Player of the Year, earning D3baseball.com Fourth Team All-America and D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-Region 4 honors. A four-time All-United East honoree, he secured First Team awards in 2024 and 2025.

Chalk, a senior from Sykesville, Maryland, posted a 3.639 GPA as an economics major and was named to the 2024 and 2025 United East Winter/Spring All-Academic Teams. In his final season, he earned his first All-United East Second Team honor. Chalk ranked second in the conference with 69.0 innings pitched and third with six wins, finishing 6-3 in 12 appearances, including 11 starts and two complete games. He was named United East Pitcher of the Week on April 7.

Fletcher, a sophomore from Fredericksburg, Virginia, achieved a 3.847 GPA as a business and economics double major, making the Dean’s List in his first four semesters. A two-time United East Winter/Spring All-Academic Team member, he earned Third Team All-United East honors in his first year as a starter. Fletcher ranked second on the team with eight stolen bases, fourth with a .333 batting average, and fifth with 30 hits and two triples.

The Seahawks concluded the 2025 season with a 13-16 overall record and an 11-5 mark in the United East Conference, marking their fourth straight season with double-digit wins. The 11 conference victories were the most since 2023, earning St. Mary’s the No. 3 seed in the United East Tournament. The team hosted a playoff game for the first time since 2011 and advanced to the Final Four.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland, a public liberal arts institution, emphasizes academic rigor and athletic excellence. The baseball program, part of the United East Conference, has built a reputation for competitive play and scholarly achievement.
