LEONARDTOWN, Md., June 9, 2025 – Greater Baden Medical Services (GBMS), a Federally Qualified Health Center, opened a new health clinic at 21729 Great Mills Road, Lexington Park, MD 20653, in partnership with the St. Mary’s County Health Department (SMCHD). The facility aims to enhance access to affordable, high-quality primary care for residents in St. Mary’s County, addressing a critical need in a designated Health Professional Shortage Area.
The Lexington Park clinic, equipped with six modern exam rooms, currently offers comprehensive primary care services for adults. GBMS plans to expand its offerings to include pediatric care and women’s health services in the near future, positioning the clinic as a key health resource for families across the region. The facility accepts most insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare, and provides a sliding fee scale to ensure affordability for uninsured or low-income patients.

“Opening this clinic is a major step forward in our mission to provide accessible, high-quality health care to all,” said Dr. Chris DeMarco, CEO of Greater Baden Medical Services. “We are grateful for the support and partnership of the St. Mary’s County Health Department, and we look forward to serving the residents of Lexington Park and surrounding communities.”
The collaboration with SMCHD underscores a shared commitment to improving health care access in underserved areas. “Building health care services in Health Professional Shortage Areas like Lexington Park has been a key focus for SMCHD,” said Dr. Meena Brewster, St. Mary’s County Health Officer. “We’re proud to support Greater Baden Medical Services in establishing their primary care clinic in Lexington Park, and ensuring that more of our community members have access to the care they need, close to home.”
Located in the heart of Lexington Park, the clinic is designed to serve as a convenient health care hub for local residents. Patients can access a range of primary care services, including routine check-ups, chronic disease management, and preventive care. The facility’s modern infrastructure supports efficient, patient-centered care, with plans for future expansion to meet growing community needs.
GBMS, a trusted FQHC, has a long-standing reputation for delivering equitable health care. Its sliding fee scale ensures that financial barriers do not prevent residents from receiving essential medical services. The organization’s partnership with SMCHD strengthens its ability to address local health disparities, particularly in areas with limited access to medical providers.
To schedule an appointment or learn more about available services, residents can visit gbms.org or call 301-888-2233. The clinic’s opening marks a significant milestone in St. Mary’s County’s efforts to expand health care infrastructure, offering a sustainable solution to meet the needs of a diverse and growing population.
The establishment of the Lexington Park clinic aligns with broader regional goals to improve health outcomes in Southern Maryland. As a Health Professional Shortage Area, Lexington Park has faced challenges in providing adequate primary care access. The new facility addresses these gaps by offering a local, affordable option for residents who may have previously traveled long distances for medical care.
This initiative builds on GBMS’s mission to serve communities across Maryland and SMCHD’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public health services. The partnership reflects a strategic approach to addressing health care inequities, with a focus on long-term community impact. As the clinic expands its services, it is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting the health and well-being of St. Mary’s County residents.
