ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. — St. Mary’s College of Maryland dedicated its alumni center to Bonnie M. Green ’74 on June 5, 2025, honoring her decades of service, generosity, and leadership. The Bonnie M. Green Alumni Center, previously the Alumni Center at Cobb House, was celebrated during a naming ceremony attended by alumni, trustees, and Green’s family. Located in the woods overlooking the St. Mary’s River, the center houses the college’s Office of Alumni Relations.
President Tuajuanda C. Jordan, speaking at the ceremony, praised Green’s extensive contributions to the college. “It brings me joy in these final weeks before I step down on June 30, to witness this moment: the official naming of the Bonnie M. Green Alumni Center,” Jordan said. “To be able to honor Bonnie on my watch is both a privilege and a poetic close to my presidency.” Jordan highlighted Green’s role in strengthening ties between the college, the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, and the STEM community through her work as executive director of The Patuxent Partnership (TPP).

Green, a Trustee Emerita, has served on the college’s Board of Trustees or Foundation Board for 30 years and currently holds the position of Foundation Board secretary. She is also a long-standing member of the Center for the Study of Democracy’s Advisory Board and the Arts Alliance. Her leadership with TPP earned her the Trailblazer award from President Jordan in 2018. Green’s lifetime of giving, including establishing the Bonnie Marie Green Scholarship in 2017, places her in the college’s President’s Circle.
Board of Trustees member Judy Fillius ’79 emphasized Green’s enduring commitment. “Bonnie has led the way. She shows us what it means to be invested in a place not just for four years, but forever,” Fillius said. Green’s contributions have been recognized with the Society of Distinguished Alumni award in 2001 and the Order of the Ark and Dove, the college’s highest honor, in 2017.
Green reflected on her time at St. Mary’s College, crediting her undergraduate education for inspiring lifelong learning and a successful career. “I have been blessed in my education, my career and the opportunity to give back. Having the alumni center named for me is the culmination of my decades of engagement,” Green said. After graduating from St. Mary’s, she earned an MBA from Washington University and built a career spanning government, industry, and the nonprofit sector.
Alumni Council member Kevin Roth ’93 underscored the significance of the dedication. “Dedicating the space as the Bonnie M. Green Alumni Center is a testament to the enduring connection many alumni feel to the College,” Roth said. He noted that Green’s generosity reflects the essence of being a St. Mary’s alum: “giving back, staying connected and believing in the future of this College.”
The ceremony, attended by Green’s husband, Bill Edgerton, and granddaughter, Victoria Edgerton, marked a milestone in the college’s history. The Bonnie M. Green Alumni Center stands as a symbol of alumni engagement and the lasting impact of dedicated individuals. The college, located in St. Mary’s City, continues to foster strong ties with its alumni through initiatives like the alumni center, which serves as a hub for connection and outreach.
Green’s scholarship and advocacy for STEM initiatives have supported the college’s academic mission, while her leadership has strengthened community partnerships. The dedication of the alumni center ensures her legacy will inspire future generations of St. Mary’s College alumni to remain engaged and invested in their alma mater.
