LATHAM, N.Y. — Seven St. Mary’s College of Maryland student-athletes were named to the 2025 United East Conference Spring All-Sportsmanship Teams on June 23, 2025, recognizing their exemplary conduct on and off the field. The honorees, selected by their coaches, embody the Division III spirit through fair play, graciousness in victory, and respect in defeat.
The United East Spring All-Sportsmanship Team highlights athletes across multiple sports who demonstrate respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and the campus community. St. Mary’s College representatives span baseball, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s outdoor track and field.
In baseball, senior catcher Ian Walters (Galena, Md./Kent County) earned a spot on the 14-person All-Sportsmanship Team. Walters batted .315 this season, recording 34 hits, seven doubles, three triples, and two home runs in 108 at-bats, the second-highest on the team. The 5-9 senior helped the Seahawks advance to the United East Final Four.
Senior defenseman Joe Murray (Lutherville, Md./Towson) secured a place on the four-person Men’s Lacrosse All-Sportsmanship Team, marking his second consecutive year receiving the honor. Murray contributed 17 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers in 14 games, with five starts. The 6-2 senior was a key member of four United East tournament championship teams.
Sophomore attacker Sam Collins (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton) represented St. Mary’s on the Women’s Lacrosse All-Sportsmanship Team. The 5-3 Collins tallied 12 assists and seven goals in eight games, aiding the Seahawks in clinching their fourth consecutive United East tournament championship.
In men’s tennis, senior team captain Devon Gorel (Jessup, Md./Hammond) was named to the eight-person All-Sportsmanship Team. Gorel posted a 7-6 singles record, including 4-2 in conference play, and led St. Mary’s to the United East championship match for the fourth straight year, winning titles in 2022 and 2023.
Senior team captain Giselle Harris (Easton, Md./Easton) earned a spot on the 11-person Women’s Tennis All-Sportsmanship Team. Harris recorded an 11-3 singles record, going 8-0 in conference matches, and a 10-5 doubles record with a 7-1 league mark. The 5-2 senior helped the Seahawks reach four consecutive United East championship matches, securing titles in 2022 and 2023.
Sophomore Jake Robey (Kensington, Md./Georgetown Prep) joined the nine-person Men’s Outdoor Track and Field All-Sportsmanship Team. Robey earned Second Team All-United East honors in the 4x400m relay and Third Team in the 800m run at the United East Outdoor Championships.
First-year Macy Woroniecki (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) was selected for the 11-person Women’s Outdoor Track and Field All-Sportsmanship Team. Woroniecki secured Second Team All-United East honors in the 800m and 1500m runs, contributing to St. Mary’s first-ever United East Outdoor Championship title.
These athletes serve as ambassadors for their teams, inspiring teammates and demonstrating respect across all facets of competition. Their contributions extend beyond athletic performance, fostering a positive environment for the St. Mary’s College community. The Seahawks’ success in the United East Conference, including multiple championship appearances and titles, reflects the leadership and character of these honorees.
