BOWIE, Md. — The Altoona Curve defeated the Bowie Baysox 3-2 in a Double-A Eastern League game on June 26, 2025, at Prince George’s Stadium. The Curve, now 33-38, relied on timely hitting and solid pitching to hold off a late Baysox rally. The Baysox fell to 31-39 after the 2-hour, 52-minute contest, attended by 1,276 fans.

The Curve struck first in the fourth inning when Sammy Siani singled, scoring Aaron McKeithan, with Termarr Johnson and Jase Bowen advancing, making it 2-0. In the fifth, McKeithan’s single drove in Mike Jarvis, extending the lead to 3-1. The Baysox scored in the fourth on a wild pitch by Curve starter Po-Yu Chen, allowing Adam Retzbach to cross the plate. Bowie closed the gap to 3-2 in the ninth after a throwing error by reliever Beau Burrows on a sacrifice bunt by Noelberth Romero, scoring Douglas Hodo III.

Chen earned the win, pitching five innings, allowing one run on three hits, and striking out five. Burrows secured his fourth save, retiring the side in the ninth with a double play despite the error. Baysox starter Gibson took the loss, surrendering two runs on six hits over 3.2 innings. The game ended when Max Wagner lined into a double play, with Curve right fielder Jarvis throwing out Jalen Vasquez at home.

McKeithan led Altoona, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Jarvis scored twice and stole a base. Siani added an RBI single. For Bowie, Wagner doubled, and Hodo scored. Both teams struggled with runners in scoring position, with the Curve 2-for-6 and the Baysox 0-for-7. Altoona’s pitchers struck out nine, while Bowie’s staff fanned 12.

The Curve’s defense shone in the ninth, with Jarvis’s outfield assist sparking the game-ending double play. Bowie’s Romero recorded an outfield assist, throwing out Tres Gonzalez at third in the fifth. Errors by Altoona’s Yoyner Pichardo and Burrows, and Bowie’s Gibson, influenced the game’s flow. Jarvis and Bowen showcased speed, with Jarvis stealing second and Bowen swiping second and third.

Chen threw 93 pitches, 54 for strikes, while relievers Derek Woods and Tyler Samaniego held Bowie scoreless. Burrows faced four batters in the ninth, allowing one unearned run. For Bowie, relievers P. Johnson and Raul Alcantara limited further damage after Gibson’s exit, but Altoona’s early runs proved decisive.

The game, played under partly cloudy skies with a temperature of 92 degrees, highlighted the competitive nature of the Eastern League’s Southwest Division. The Curve, in fourth place, gained ground, while the fifth-place Baysox aimed to rebound. Prince George’s Stadium, a hub for minor league baseball, hosted the matchup, with umpires Stone Garver, Elliott Melton, and Jaylen Goodman officiating.
