BALTIMORE, Md. — AAA announced a nationwide grassroots campaign on June 23, 2025, in partnership with Feeding America, aiming to provide at least 3.5 million meals to address rising food insecurity across the United States. The initiative, running through June 27, 2025, focuses on donations and volunteer efforts to support communities during a period when many children lack access to school meals.

“Addressing hunger in the communities where we live and serve is a reflection of our values as an organization,” said Tom Wiedemann, CEO, AAA Club Alliance. “With this campaign, AAA is committed to making an impact by providing support and hope for our neighbors in need.”

In Maryland, AAA associates contribute through donations and volunteering at the Maryland Food Bank, packaging food for distribution to local communities. The campaign leverages AAA’s network of thousands of associates and millions of members to raise awareness, collect donations, and encourage volunteerism. From June 23 to June 27, AAA offers to provide meals through Feeding America for each new household membership signed during this period.

“Hunger is a challenge we can overcome by working together,” said Lauren Biedron, Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships at Feeding America. “We are excited to join hands with AAA who understand the urgent need to address the hunger crisis and share in our belief that food insecurity is about more than food. It’s about ensuring everyone has access to the resources needed to thrive.”

Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization, operates a network of 200 food banks, including the Maryland Food Bank, serving millions annually. In 2023, 47 million Americans, including 13.8 million children, faced food insecurity, with one in seven individuals affected due to rising living costs and limited food access. The campaign’s timing aligns with summer months when school closures increase food insecurity for children reliant on school-sponsored meals.

The Maryland Food Bank, a key partner in this effort, distributes food to nearly 1,200 soup kitchens, pantries, and shelters statewide. AAA volunteers in Maryland assist with sorting and packing meals, supporting the food bank’s mission to provide nutritious food and pathways out of hunger. The organization has a history of impactful partnerships, including a $750,000 grant from Walmart and Feeding America to expand food rescue operations, aiming to provide 13 million meals annually Maryland Food Bank Programs.

The campaign encourages public participation through donations and volunteer opportunities. Feeding America notes that every dollar donated helps provide at least 10 meals through its network. Interested individuals can contribute directly via Feeding America’s donation portal or join AAA to support the cause AAA Membership.

The initiative reflects a broader movement to combat hunger, with Feeding America’s network rescuing 4.1 billion pounds of food last year to support families. AAA’s focus on community engagement aims to amplify these efforts, addressing immediate food needs while fostering long-term solutions. The campaign’s emphasis on the week of June 23 highlights the urgent need to support children and families during summer breaks.
