ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. — The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s lacrosse team and senior Quinnten Hatfield were recognized by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) on July 1, 2025, for their academic achievements. The USILA named the Seahawks a Division III Team Academic Award recipient and selected Hatfield as a Scholar All-American.
The Seahawks earned the USILA All-Academic Team Award for the fourth consecutive season, posting a team grade point average of 3.329 during the 2024-25 academic year. The USILA honors programs with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher, reflecting the squad’s commitment to academic excellence alongside their athletic performance.

Hatfield, a physics and computer science double major with a mathematics minor from Bel Air, Maryland, achieved a 3.925 GPA in his senior year. He becomes the 16th Seahawk to earn USILA Scholar All-America honors and the third in a row, following Cal Wilcox in 2023 and Ethan Little in 2024. Hatfield also received the 2024-25 United East Conference Male Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and secured a spot on the United East Conference Winter/Spring All-Academic Team for the second consecutive year. Additionally, he was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Men’s At-Large Team for the third straight season and earned the 2025 United East Senior Scholar-Athlete Award in men’s lacrosse.
On the field, Hatfield, a 6-foot-4 short-stick defensive midfielder, ranked sixth in the United East Conference with 18 caused turnovers, third-best on the team, and fifth on the squad with 34 ground balls in the 2025 season. He contributed four goals and three assists. Over his four-year career, Hatfield amassed 153 ground balls, 57 caused turnovers, 22 goals, and 10 assists. A team captain in his senior year, he earned Honorable Mention USILA All-American honors in 2023, 2024, and 2025, and was a three-time All-United East selection, with First Team honors in 2023 and 2025 and Second Team in 2024.
Hatfield helped lead St. Mary’s College to four United East tournament championships, three United East regular-season titles, and three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship Tournament. The Seahawks (10-8) advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament for the third straight season in 2025, while claiming their fourth consecutive conference tournament title and third straight regular-season crown.
The USILA’s recognition highlights the balance of academic and athletic success at St. Mary’s College. The team’s 3.329 GPA reflects the rigorous academic standards maintained by the program, which competes in the United East Conference and has established itself as a consistent contender in Division III lacrosse. Hatfield’s individual honors underscore his role as a leader both in the classroom and on the field, contributing to the team’s sustained success.

Hatfield’s career statistics and accolades place him among the program’s standout performers. His 57 caused turnovers and 153 ground balls rank among the team’s top defensive contributions, while his leadership as a captain helped guide the Seahawks through a challenging schedule. The USILA Scholar All-American award recognizes his ability to excel academically while competing at a high level in a demanding sport.
St. Mary’s College continues to build on its reputation as a program that fosters both intellectual and athletic growth. The team’s fourth straight USILA All-Academic Team Award and Hatfield’s Scholar All-American honor add to the institution’s growing list of accolades, including recent rankings in The Princeton Review’s “Best Value Colleges” list.
