LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — MedStar Health has opened its third urgent care Lexington Park facility in St. Mary’s County, located in the Great Mills community at 45870 East Run Dr., Suite 102, Lexington Park, MD, 20653. The new site, directly across from Great Mills High School, joins existing MedStar Health Urgent Care centers in California and Charlotte Hall, marking the organization’s 34th urgent care location across Maryland, Washington, D.C., and northern Virginia.
The 3,300-square-foot urgent care Lexington Park facility features eight exam rooms, one X-ray room, one lab space, and two areas for monitoring vital signs. Its strategic location offers convenient access, just five minutes from Patuxent Naval Air Station and 20 minutes from MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown. The center provides specialized services, including telehealth consultations for cardiology, emergency, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pediatrics, and spine. It also offers online check-in, walk-in availability, full-body X-rays with on-site interpretation, pre-operative and sports physicals, EKGs, and rapid PCR testing for strep, COVID-19, flu, and RSV, with results available during visits. Additional services include rapid STD testing for females, rapid HIV testing for both genders, and interpretation services, including American Sign Language.
The urgent care Lexington Park site shares its building with a MedStar Health Primary Care office. On weekdays, Women’s Health providers from the primary care office utilize urgent care exam rooms to offer scheduled appointments, enhancing timely care options. Ample free parking is available on-site.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the opening, attended by MedStar Health leaders and St. Mary’s County representatives, including Commissioner Scott Ostrow, Dept. of Health Deputy Health Officer Stephanie Harper, MD, and Dept. of Health Director of Clinical Services Alicia Nelson, RN. “We are proud to be offering St. Mary’s County another option for high-quality care with the opening of our Great Mills urgent care location,” said B. Elizabeth Delasobera, MD, vice president and chief medical officer of MedStar Health Ambulatory Services. “As we continue to grow as a trusted healthcare leader in the county, we are able to leverage our wide variety of available services to create even more accessible and convenient care opportunities for St. Mary’s residents.”
Commissioner Ostrow emphasized the need for the new facility, stating, “It is so fantastic to have yet another urgent care here in our county, but most importantly in this Lexington Park/Great Mills Road area. Healthcare is a bit of a desert here. This is so very badly needed for this community.”
All 34 MedStar Health Urgent Care locations, including the new urgent care Lexington Park site, operate daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., serving patients from young children to seniors. The centers accept most private insurance, in-state Medicaid, Medicare, supplemental insurance, and self-pay patients. A secure patient portal allows access to lab results and X-ray images, enhancing patient convenience.
The urgent care Lexington Park facility strengthens MedStar Health’s commitment to accessible healthcare in St. Mary’s County. With its advanced services and strategic location, the center addresses a critical need for prompt medical care in the Great Mills area, supporting the community’s diverse healthcare demands.
