A tragic Lothian motorcycle crash on July 25, 2025, claimed the life of 43-year-old Katrina M. Prieur of Upper Marlboro. The incident occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Mount Zion Marlboro Road and Main Street, prompting a response from the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Southern District. Due to the severity of the injuries, the department’s Crash Reconstruction Team was called to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Preliminary findings indicate that Prieur was operating a 2009 Yamaha Star motorcycle traveling west on Mount Zion Marlboro Road, nearing the interchange with Route 4. At the same time, a 20-year-old male from Bowie, driving a 2012 Honda Accord, was making a left turn from Main Street onto Mount Zion Marlboro Road, heading east. The Lothian motorcycle crash occurred when the Yamaha struck the Honda’s driver’s side rear quarter panel as the car crossed the westbound lane. The impact ejected Prieur from the motorcycle, causing her to land in the roadway.
Emergency responders acted swiftly, and Prieur was airlifted by a Maryland State Police helicopter to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries on July 26, 2025. The driver of the Honda Accord was uninjured in the Lothian motorcycle crash, according to police reports. The Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team continues to investigate to determine the precise factors contributing to the collision.
