The Lancaster Stormers extended their winning streak to seven games with a 3-1 victory over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on August 13, 2025, at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf, maintaining a two-game lead in the North Division second-half standings.

Alex Isola delivered the go-ahead solo home run in the ninth inning, his second in as many nights, to break a 1-1 tie against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. The blast off reliever Andre Scrubb’s 1-0 pitch landed on the clubhouse roof in left field. Evan Alexander followed with a triple to right-center, and Yeison Coca added an insurance run with a single that glanced off shortstop Sam Dexter’s glove. Phil Diehl secured the win in the bottom half, allowing a single to Brett Barrera but striking out two and inducing a fly out for his seventh save.

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs took an early lead when Ryan McCarthy homered in the third inning off starter Matt Swarmer, who allowed just that one run over three innings with four strikeouts in his Lancaster debut. Max Green followed with four shutout innings, yielding only a check-swing infield single to Pearce Howard. Billy Sullivan earned the win with a hitless eighth, walking two.

Lancaster tied the game in the fifth after loading the bases in the third and fourth without scoring. Nick Ward singled, advanced to third on Mason Martin’s hit, and scored on Joseph Carpenter’s sacrifice fly to left. The Stormers finished with nine hits, including Coca’s double and Alexander’s sixth triple of the season, all on the road. Ward recorded his 33rd multi-hit game.

For the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, starter Aneurys Thurman pitched five innings, allowing one run on four hits with five strikeouts. Relievers Jake Blanchard and Brian McCabe kept Lancaster scoreless over the next three innings, but Scrubb took the loss after surrendering the decisive runs in the ninth. The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs managed three hits, with McCarthy’s homer accounting for their only run.

Andre Scrubb, a 30-year-old right-hander born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the eighth round in 2016 out of High Point University. He reached the majors with the Houston Astros in 2020 and later pitched for the New York Mets in 2021, compiling a 3.32 ERA over 38 career MLB appearances with 45 strikeouts in 43.1 innings. In the Atlantic League this season, Scrubb has a 3-1 record and 3.90 ERA for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.

Alex Isola, a 27-year-old catcher from Lincoln, California, was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 29th round of the 2019 draft after playing at Texas Christian University. He has a .242 average in 61 games for Lancaster in 2025, with seven homers and 33 RBIs. His ninth-inning homer marked his 12th of the season and 53rd RBI.

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, now 49-46, fell further behind in the standings. Lancaster improved to 53-43 overall. This marked the Stormers’ fifth win in their final at-bat this season.

Lancaster, leading the North Division second half by two games over Long Island, hosts games at Penn Medicine Park, voted the top ballpark by Ballpark Digest. The Stormers have a strong recent run, going 7-2 in their last nine series.

The series concludes August 14 with Lancaster’s Noah Skirrow (12-3) facing former Stormer Connor Overton (0-3) for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m., streamable on FloBaseball.
