Manchester, N.H. — The Chesapeake Baysox fell 3-2 to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on September 10, 2025, at Delta Dental Stadium in a tightly contested Eastern League game. Despite a spirited third-inning rally, the Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, couldn’t overcome early scoring by the Fisher Cats, who secured the win behind strong pitching and timely hitting. The loss dropped Chesapeake to 59-72, fifth in the Southwest Division, while New Hampshire improved to 52-81, sixth in the Northeast Division.
The Fisher Cats struck early against Baysox starter Houston Fruit. In the first inning, Charles McAdoo doubled, and Jace Bohrofen walked, setting up Damiano Palmegiani’s sharp single to center, scoring McAdoo for a 1-0 lead. Je’Von Ward followed with a force out at second, allowing Bohrofen to score and pushing the lead to 2-0. In the second, Eddinson Paulino launched his 13th home run of the season, a solo shot to right field, giving New Hampshire a 3-0 advantage. Fruit took the loss, falling to 1-5 with a 7.01 ERA, allowing three runs on five hits over 4.1 innings, with three strikeouts and 70 pitches, 45 for strikes.

The Baysox fought back in the third. Brandon Butterworth drew a walk, and Austin Overn doubled to right, driving in Butterworth to make it 3-1. Creed Willems then doubled to left, deflected by Fisher Cats left fielder Ryan McCarty, scoring Overn to narrow the gap to 3-2. Willems’ double, his 20th, marked his 59th RBI of the season. Fisher Cats starter Josh Rogers, who earned the win to improve to 7-9 with a 4.13 ERA, shut down the rally, retiring the next three batters. Rogers pitched five innings, allowing two runs on three hits with four strikeouts.
New Hampshire’s bullpen sealed the victory. Brandon Harrison threw 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing one hit. Ryan Garkow pitched a scoreless seventh, and Yariel Rojas earned his third save with a perfect ninth, striking out one. The Baysox bullpen was equally sharp, with Dan Heid tossing 1.2 scoreless innings, Ryan Long throwing a clean seventh, and Brandon Rustad blanking the Fisher Cats in the eighth. Despite the effort, Chesapeake went 2-for-7 with runners in scoring position, leaving six on base, including two in scoring position with two outs.
Offensively, Overn led the Baysox, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Willems, Ian Anderson, and Samuel Sosa each contributed a hit, with Sosa’s single and Anderson’s walk adding to the effort. The Fisher Cats managed six hits, with Paulino’s homer and Palmegiani’s RBI single pacing the offense. McAdoo and McCarty added doubles, and Bohrofen stole his 10th base. New Hampshire also struggled with runners in scoring position, going 1-for-7 and leaving seven on base.
Defensively, the Baysox executed a double play in the third, with shortstop Griff O’Ferrall and first baseman Ian Anderson combining to stifle a Fisher Cats threat. New Hampshire turned a double play in the sixth, led by second baseman Paulino and first baseman Peyton Williams. An error by Paulino in the field didn’t prove costly, as the Fisher Cats’ pitching held firm.
