La Plata, Maryland – The No. 17 College of Southern Maryland women’s soccer team shut out Garrett College 7-0 on October 11, 2025, at CSM Soccer Field, extending its winning streak to three games and improving to 9-1-1 overall and 7-0-1 in the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference. The victory came after a pregame ceremony honoring 10 sophomores for their contributions to the program. Garrett fell to 2-10 overall and 2-9 in conference play.

Sara Allwine scored twice for the Hawks, with additional goals from Kylie Smith, Amber Jones (two), Elyssa Guy and another from Allwine, according to team social media updates. The shutout marked the team’s fourth of the season, highlighting a defense that has allowed just 16 goals through 11 games. Southern Maryland dominated possession and outshot Garrett significantly, though exact shot totals were not immediately available. The game, part of the NJCAA Region 20 Division II schedule, solidified the Hawks’ position atop the MD JUCO standings.

The sophomore recognition ceremony spotlighted players who have anchored the team during a successful campaign. Kylie Smith, a goalkeeper from Indian Head, has started seven of eight games this season, posting a 2.23 goals-against average and 30 saves for a 71.4 percent save rate. Her career totals include 23 games, 121 saves and a 75.2 percent save percentage, with honors including 2024 All-Region 20 second team and All-MD JUCO second team.

Forward Sara Allwine, from Mechanicsville, leads the team with 15 goals and seven assists for 37 points in nine starts. She has recorded three hat tricks and five multi-goal games this year, boosting her career totals to 42 goals, 15 assists and 99 points over 24 games. Allwine earned 2024 All-Region 20 first team and All-MD JUCO first team recognition.

Baylee Copsey, a midfielder-defender from Leonardtown, has started all eight games played, contributing three shots. Her career spans 24 starts with two goals and one assist. She received 2024 All-Region 20 honorable mention.

Amber Jones, a forward from Waldorf, has 12 goals and five assists for 29 points in nine games, including one hat trick. Career stats show 21 goals and seven assists over 25 games.

Taylor Hopkins, a defender from Lusby, has one assist in seven games. Her career includes 22 appearances with one assist.

Cali Barber, a defender from Prince Frederick, has one shot on goal in six games. Career highlights include three goals and two assists in 15 games.

Nora Barlow, a defender from La Plata, has one shot on goal in eight games. She has one goal and two assists over 21 career games.

Abby May, a forward from Charlotte Hall, has 14 goals and four assists for 32 points, with three hat tricks. Career: 29 goals, eight assists and 66 points in 21 games, plus 2024 All-Region 20 first team and All-MD JUCO second team.

Abigail Noftsier, a defender-midfielder, has three goals and two assists for eight points in nine games.

Emma Auld, a defender, has appeared in three games this season.

These players have helped propel the Hawks to a strong start, including a 24-0 win over Howard Community College on August 26 and an 11-0 victory at Prince George’s on September 30, both ended early under mercy rules. The team’s only loss was 8-1 to New Rochelle on September 14, and it tied Allegany College of Maryland 2-2 on September 27. Southern Maryland holds a 2-0 series lead over Garrett, with the previous win a 4-3 road victory on October 3, 2024.

The Hawks compete in the MD JUCO, a conference within NJCAA Region 20 that includes 13 teams across Maryland. Southern Maryland has a history of competitive play, reaching the Region 20 championship game in 2024 with a 10-5-1 record. The program emphasizes development for student-athletes from local high schools in Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s counties, providing pathways to four-year institutions or professional opportunities.
