ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. — St. Mary’s College of Maryland senior forward Brenna Ziegler has earned selection to the 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Senior Team, one of only 60 student-athletes nationwide to receive the honor.
The Newark, Delaware, native becomes the ninth Seahawk in program history to land on the NFHCA National Senior Team and the first since Charlotte Horn in 2024. Previous St. Mary’s recipients include Audrey Dickens (2023), Lauriann Parker (2013), Allie Skiest (2011), Emily Smithson (2009), Amy Skrickus (2008), and Melissa Moore (1998).

Ziegler, who stands 5-foot-9, was the lone representative from the United East Conference on the 2025 squad. The NFHCA recognizes seniors for competitive excellence, leadership, and overall impact on their programs.
Over four seasons and 73 starts, Ziegler compiled 55 goals, 31 assists, and 141 total points while recording 13 game-winning goals. She shattered four all-time St. Mary’s records during the 2025 campaign: assists on August 30, career points on September 10, goals on September 28, and game-winning goals on October 8. Each mark previously belonged to Parker, who finished with 44 goals, 23 assists, 111 points, and 12 game-winning goals.
Ziegler’s career accolades include four all-region selections, joining Horn as the only Seahawks to achieve that distinction. She earned NFHCA First Team All-Region honors in 2023 and 2025 and Second Team recognition in 2022 and 2024.
Conference awards followed a similar pattern. Ziegler collected four First Team all-conference nods — two in the former Atlantic East Conference and two in the United East — along with six conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, three in each league. She claimed Atlantic East Rookie of the Year in 2021 and Atlantic East Player of the Year in 2022.
In her final season, Ziegler paced St. Mary’s with 15 goals, eight assists, and 38 points while tying for the team lead with four game-winning goals. Her 2.05 points per game ranked 31st nationally in Division III, and her 0.84 goals per game placed 36th.
The Seahawks finished the year with their third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship, the third overall in program history. St. Mary’s captured both the United East regular-season and tournament titles for the second straight season and extended its conference regular-season unbeaten streak to five years, posting a 26-0 league record during that span.
St. Mary’s College field hockey competes at the Jamie L. Roberts Stadium on the campus overlooking the St. Mary’s River. The program joined the United East Conference in 2021 after helping form the Atlantic East that launched in 2018.
The NFHCA National Senior Team selection caps a decorated career for Ziegler, who arrived from Newark Charter High School and departs as the most prolific scorer in St. Mary’s College of Maryland history.
