Jeremy Bradford, president and CEO of CalvertHealth, has been elected as an at-large delegate to the American Hospital Association’s Regional Policy Board 3, representing the Southeastern United States. His three-year term began in January 2026 and runs through December 31, 2028. The appointment places Bradford among hospital and health system leaders from across the region who identify priorities, address emerging issues and provide recommendations to the AHA Board of Trustees.
The AHA Regional Policy Boards serve as a key mechanism for shaping national health care policy by channeling regional perspectives into broader advocacy efforts. RPB 3 encompasses hospitals and systems in the Southeast, where community-based providers like CalvertHealth face ongoing challenges including workforce shortages, reimbursement pressures and the need to maintain access to care in rural and suburban areas. Bradford’s role allows him to contribute to discussions on practical policy solutions aimed at strengthening hospitals’ ability to deliver high-quality care.

“I am honored to serve as an at-large delegate on Regional Policy Board 3,” Bradford said. “Hospitals like CalvertHealth are navigating unprecedented challenges while remaining deeply committed to the communities we serve. I look forward to working alongside colleagues from across the nation to help inform thoughtful, practical policy solutions that strengthen access to high-quality care and support community hospitals now and into the future.”
Matthew Wright, regional executive for the American Hospital Association, commended the selection. “The American Hospital Association values CalvertHealth’s efforts in providing high-quality care to the residents of Calvert County and Southern Maryland, and we appreciate Jeremy’s willingness to serve for the next three years on Regional Policy Board 3,” Wright said.
The American Hospital Association represents nearly 5,000 hospitals, health care systems, networks and other providers, along with 43,000 individual members. Through advocacy, education and leadership development, the organization advances health care nationwide. Policy board members, including Bradford, collaborate to develop region-specific recommendations that inform AHA positions on federal legislation, regulations and funding.
Bradford has led CalvertHealth since 2023, overseeing the Prince Frederick-based health system’s emphasis on quality improvement, expanded access and community-focused services. CalvertHealth operates CalvertHealth Medical Center, a 108-bed acute care facility serving Calvert County and surrounding Southern Maryland areas. The system provides emergency care, surgical services, maternity care, oncology, orthopedics and other specialties while maintaining partnerships with larger networks for advanced treatments.
This appointment underscores the growing influence of Southern Maryland health care leaders in national policy discussions. Community hospitals in the region often serve as the primary source of inpatient and outpatient care for residents, particularly in areas with limited alternatives. Bradford’s participation on RPB 3 positions CalvertHealth to advocate for policies addressing rural health disparities, workforce recruitment and sustainable reimbursement models critical to maintaining local services.
The AHA’s structure ensures regional voices reach the national level, where decisions affect Medicare and Medicaid funding, telehealth expansion and emergency preparedness. For Calvert County, which relies heavily on CalvertHealth for medical needs, the representation offers a direct channel to influence policies impacting daily operations and long-term viability.
