LEONARDTOWN, MD — St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested three individuals on Sunday, January 11, 2025, following an armed robbery reported that evening in the 44000 block of Redwood Lane in California. The suspects face multiple felony charges, including armed robbery and various firearms offenses, after deputies recovered two handguns from their vehicle during a traffic stop.

Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 6:05 p.m. after the victim reported that a known individual pointed a handgun at him. The victim stated that this suspect, along with another person, took cash and an expensive jacket before fleeing in a green passenger car.

Investigators quickly located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The occupants were identified as Justin Tyler Chapman, 22, of Lexington Park, the driver; Brandon Rafael Adams Jr., 18, of Bowie, front-seat passenger; and Jevone Daevion Reid, 19, of California, rear passenger. Detectives from the Criminal Intelligence Unit determined that Reid was the individual who allegedly pointed the handgun at the victim.

A probable cause search of the vehicle yielded a loaded Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun and a 9mm handgun equipped with a machine gun conversion device. All three suspects were taken into custody without incident.

Reid faces 12 charges: armed robbery; possession of a regulated firearm by someone under 21 years of age; loaded handgun in vehicle; handgun wear/carry and transport in a vehicle on public roads; loaded handgun on person; wear/carry/transport a handgun on person; illegal possession of a regulated firearm; illegal possession of ammunition; use of a firearm during the commission of a felony/violent crime; assault first-degree; assault second-degree; and theft of $100 to under $1500.

Chapman was charged with seven counts: loaded handgun in vehicle; wear/carry a handgun and transport in a vehicle on public roads; loaded handgun on person; wear/carry/transport a handgun on person; possession of a regulated firearm after being convicted of a disqualifying crime; illegal possession of ammunition; and possession of a rapid-fire trigger activator.

Adams faces 12 charges: armed robbery; possession of a regulated firearm by someone under 21 years of age; wear/carry a loaded handgun in a vehicle upon public roads; wear/carry a handgun in a vehicle upon public roads; two counts of wear/carry/transport a handgun on person; possession of a regulated firearm after being convicted of a disqualifying crime; illegal possession of ammunition; use of a firearm during the commission of a felony/violent crime; assault first-degree; assault second-degree; and theft of $100 to under $1500.

The three suspects were transported to the Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown to await a bond hearing scheduled for Monday afternoon, January 13, 2025.
