The Calvert County Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 7 p.m. to gather public input on proposed updates to the Master Plan of Town Centers, specifically Draft Chapter 1 covering Town Centers generally and Draft Chapter 3 focused on the Dunkirk Town Center Master Plan Update.

The session will occur in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room at the Calvert County Administration Building, 150 Main Street, Prince Frederick. The hearing provides residents, business owners, property stakeholders and other interested parties an opportunity to offer oral comments on the draft revisions.

The updates aim to refine long-term planning guidance for the Dunkirk Town Center area in northern Calvert County, addressing land use, development patterns, infrastructure needs and community character in one of the county’s designated growth centers. Dunkirk serves as a key commercial and residential hub along Maryland Route 4, connecting northern Calvert communities to Anne Arundel County and the greater Washington-Baltimore region.

Residents are encouraged to review the draft documents ahead of the hearing. The materials are available for viewing online at www.CalvertCountyMd.gov/DunkirkTownCenter. Individuals may also request copies or additional details by contacting the Department of Planning & Zoning at 410-535-1600, extension 2356, or by emailing TownCenterUpdate@calvertcountymd.gov.

Written comments will become part of the official record if submitted by the close of business on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Comments may be sent via email to TownCenterUpdate@calvertcountymd.gov or by mail to the Planning Commission, 150 Main Street, Prince Frederick, MD 20678.

The meeting will be accessible remotely through a live stream on the county’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/CalvertCountyGov. Participants may also join by phone using the following details: dial-in number 872-216-2953, meeting ID 299 248 548 964 4, passcode PX2gm3va. The public hearing represents a standard step in the comprehensive plan amendment process for Calvert County, ensuring community involvement in shaping future development policies for town centers. Dunkirk’s master plan update builds on prior planning efforts to balance growth with preservation of rural character, environmental resources and transportation efficiency in Southern Maryland.
