Residents can sponsor rubber ducks for the race, with sponsorships available for purchase either in person or online through the county’s registration platform at https://calvertcounty.perfectmind.com/. Each sponsored duck enters the competition, and winning ducks earn prizes for their sponsors.

Funds raised through the event directly benefit the Therapeutic Recreation scholarship fund. This fund offers financial assistance to help individuals with special needs access Calvert County Parks & Recreation’s therapeutic programs. These include summer camps, adaptive sports, inclusive activities, and other life-enriching opportunities designed to promote physical fitness, social interaction, skill development, and community inclusion for participants of all ages.

The Therapeutic Recreation division within Calvert County Parks & Recreation focuses on creating accessible recreational experiences tailored to people with disabilities or special needs. Programs emphasize independence, confidence-building, and enjoyment while removing financial barriers through scholarship support. The annual duck race serves as a key fundraiser to sustain and expand these offerings.

The Edward T. Hall Aquatic Center provides an indoor venue suitable for the event, featuring a pool that allows for a controlled, engaging duck race format. The center regularly hosts community swims, lessons, and special events throughout the year.

Event organizers encourage early sponsorship purchases to secure spots in the race. No additional registration is required for attendance, though participants and families are welcome to join the afternoon of games and activities leading up to the race.

This longstanding community fundraiser combines fun with purpose, drawing support from families, businesses, and residents across Calvert County. By sponsoring a duck, contributors help ensure that therapeutic recreation remains accessible to those who benefit most from structured, inclusive programs.

Calvert County Parks & Recreation continues to prioritize equity in recreation, using events like the duck race to generate resources for scholarship aid and program growth. The initiative reflects broader county efforts to support residents with disabilities through year-round opportunities that enhance quality of life.
