PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Calvert County released its 2026 Visitors Guide on March 11, offering residents and travelers a comprehensive resource to plan outings across Southern Maryland’s coastal county. The guide, available for free download or printed copies, details attractions, dining, shopping, accommodations, outdoor activities, and annual events to highlight the area’s beaches, history, arts, and natural beauty.
The Department of Economic Development, which produces the guide, positions it as a one-stop planning tool for day trips, weekend getaways, or extended stays. It covers key sites including Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Solomons, Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons, Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum in St. Leonard, and Breezy Point Beach & Campground in Prince Frederick. Additional highlights include fossil hunting for shark teeth along the Chesapeake Bay shores, sailing excursions, golf courses, antique shops, hiking trails, breweries, wineries, and parks.

Itineraries organize suggestions by theme, grouping restaurants, museums, accommodations, and trails for easy trip building. A calendar section lists major events throughout the year, helping visitors time visits around festivals, seasonal activities, and community gatherings.
Julie Oberg, Economic Development Director, stated, “We are delighted to present the latest version of the Calvert County Visitors Guide to residents and visitors. This one-stop guide features everything one needs to plan an adventure in Calvert County this year. Find information on the county’s unique and diverse attractions, cozy accommodations, a variety of restaurants, small shops, water activities, breweries, wineries, parks, events and much more.”
The guide aligns with broader efforts to promote tourism in Calvert County, a key economic driver for Southern Maryland. Visitors from nearby areas, including those in Charles, St. Mary’s, and Prince George’s counties, often seek accessible escapes to Calvert’s 30-plus miles of Chesapeake Bay shoreline, family-oriented museums, and low-key rural charm. The release coincides with spring planning season, as warmer weather draws crowds to outdoor pursuits like beachcombing at Flag Ponds Nature Park or exploring historic sites.

This updated guide builds on Calvert County’s reputation as a destination for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and families seeking unspoiled settings close to the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore regions. With its focus on diverse experiences—from cultural arts at Annmarie to maritime heritage at the Calvert Marine Museum—the publication encourages exploration of both well-known spots and hidden gems across North, Central, and South County areas.
