Prince George’s County Police Department homicide detectives continue to investigate the fatal shooting of 39-year-old Darian Ragland of Brandywine, who was found shot inside his vehicle in Temple Hills on April 10, 2026.

Officers responded to the 4700 block of Branch Avenue at approximately 4:35 p.m. that Friday and located Ragland suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A reward of up to $25,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case. Detectives are working to identify a suspect or suspects and determine a motive.

The shooting occurred in Temple Hills, a community in northern Prince George’s County located near the District of Columbia line. Southern Maryland residents from Charles County, including those in Brandywine, have taken note of the incident because Ragland lived in the area that borders Prince George’s and Charles counties. Brandywine serves as a shared residential and commercial hub for families across the two counties.

Prince George’s County Police have not released additional details about the circumstances of the shooting or possible witnesses at this stage of the investigation. The department confirmed the victim’s identity Monday after initial reports described a man found shot inside a vehicle.

This marks another homicide investigation in Prince George’s County, where violent crime remains a concern for residents in both urban and suburban neighborhoods. Southern Maryland communities, including those in Charles County, frequently share cross-border ties with Prince George’s through work, family and daily commutes along routes such as Branch Avenue and Crain Highway.

Local law enforcement agencies in the region coordinate on cases involving multiple jurisdictions. The reward offer aims to encourage community members with knowledge of the incident to come forward without fear of identification.

No arrests have been made as of Tuesday. Detectives continue canvassing the area and reviewing available evidence from the scene.

Temple Hills and surrounding areas experience heavy traffic along Branch Avenue, a major corridor connecting to the Capital Beltway. The location of the shooting near residential and commercial properties has prompted questions from nearby residents about safety.

Ragland’s family has not made public statements. Police have asked that the investigation proceed without interference so that justice can be pursued for the victim.

Southern Maryland’s broader focus on public safety includes efforts by county sheriffs’ offices in Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s to address violent incidents that affect regional families. This case highlights ongoing challenges with gun violence in the greater Washington metropolitan area.

Residents who may have been in the 4700 block of Branch Avenue around 4:35 p.m. on April 10 are encouraged to review any video or photos from that time. Even small details could assist detectives.

The Prince George’s County Police Department has increased patrols in the Temple Hills area following the incident while the investigation remains active.

This homicide adds to the list of cases under review by the county’s Homicide Unit in 2026. Officials have not provided statistics on year-to-date violent crimes in the specific district.

Community members in Brandywine and adjacent Charles County neighborhoods have expressed concern through local forums and social media, noting the proximity to their homes and the need for information sharing across county lines.
