CHARLES COUNTY — The Charles County Animal Care Center is seeking loving forever homes for two adorable Australian Cattle Dog mixes with a flair for the dramatic — and a look straight out of the Old West.
Known as Jessie James and Wyatt Earp, the 2-month-old puppies are described as sweet, playful partners in crime who are ready to trade shelter life for family adventures. Their distinctive natural “masked bandit” markings give them the appearance of classic outlaws, but shelter staff say the only thing these pups are guilty of is stealing hearts.
The energetic duo has quickly become favorites at the center. Both puppies are highly social, always eager for playtime or treats, and display the intelligence and loyalty characteristic of their Australian Cattle Dog heritage. While they share the same striking masked appearance, each has its own personality and is available for individual adoption.

“WANTED: Homes for two very cute outlaws!” the center announced. “Meet Jessie James and Wyatt Earp—two Australian Cattle Dog mixes rockin’ natural masked bandit looks like they just trotted out of a wild west heist… but the only thing they’re guilty of stealing is hearts.”
“These 2-month-old partners in-crime are sweet, playful, and always ready for action (or snacks… definitely snacks). They may share the same signature disguise, but they’re each looking to ride off into the sunset with their own forever family.”
The center encourages potential adopters who are prepared for an active lifestyle to consider one or both of the puppies. Australian Cattle Dogs are known for their herding instincts, high energy levels and strong bonds with their people, making them excellent companions for families ready to provide plenty of exercise, training and engagement.
“If you’re ready for a little adventure, a lot of laughs, and a loyal sidekick with built-in eye mask flair, Jessie James or Wyatt Earp is ready to report for duty,” the center said. “Saddle up and come meet your new best friend before they make their great escape… into someone else’s home!”
The Charles County Animal Care Center, which serves the community by caring for homeless animals and promoting responsible pet ownership, regularly highlights adoptable pets through engaging campaigns like this one. Adoptions help free up space for other animals in need and support the center’s mission across Southern Maryland.
Potential adopters are encouraged to visit the shelter in person to meet Jessie James and Wyatt Earp and learn about the adoption process. Staff can provide guidance on training, care requirements and how these intelligent pups can thrive in a new home. All adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping and other essential veterinary care.
Southern Maryland residents interested in adding a four-legged family member are reminded that adopting from a local shelter helps reduce overcrowding and gives deserving animals a second chance. The center welcomes applications from families, individuals and those with experience in active breeds.
With their playful spirits and distinctive looks, Jessie James and Wyatt Earp are poised to bring joy, laughter and loyalty to their new homes. Charles County animal lovers are invited to stop by soon — these “outlaws” won’t be waiting around for long.
