Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, a nationally recognized leader and cancer survivor, has joined the Board of Directors of Radiology Partners, the largest physician-led radiology practice in the United States.

The announcement was made today by Radiology Partners and its wholly-owned subsidiary Mosaic Clinical Technologies. Gov. Hogan brings extensive executive leadership, healthcare policy expertise, and personal experience with serious illness to the role, aligning closely with RP’s mission to transform radiology through clinical innovation and technology.

“Gov. Hogan brings a unique combination of executive leadership, healthcare policy perspective and personal experience that aligns deeply with our mission,” said Rich Whitney, RP board chair and CEO. “He understands the importance of timely diagnosis, clinical innovation and coordinated care, and he brings insights that will be incredibly valuable as RP continues working to drive clinical, technology and AI innovation to improve patient outcomes.”

Hogan served as Maryland’s 62nd governor from 2015 to 2023 and chaired the National Governors Association from 2019 to 2020. Shortly after taking office in 2015, he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He continued leading the state while undergoing intensive treatment, an experience that deeply influenced his commitment to improving cancer detection, research, and patient care.

During his two terms as governor, Hogan made significant strides in healthcare and life sciences. He launched Maryland’s $216 million Cancer Moonshot initiative aimed at expanding cancer detection, treatment, research capacity, and workforce development. His administration also focused on improving healthcare affordability and access across the state. Additionally, Hogan played a key role in guiding Maryland through the COVID-19 pandemic, coordinating testing, vaccination efforts, and care delivery across multiple sectors.

“I’m honored to join the board of Radiology Partners in support of its mission to transform radiology,” said Hogan. “I know firsthand the importance of timely, accurate diagnosis for patients and families alike. As governor, and as chair of the National Governors Association during COVID-19, I saw the essential role physicians and clinical innovation play in strengthening care delivery and improving outcomes. I look forward to working closely with the Radiology Partners team and taking part in the exciting transformative innovation that is underway.”

Radiology Partners, through its affiliated practices, serves more than 3,400 hospitals and healthcare facilities nationwide. As a physician-owned and physician-led organization, the practice focuses on advancing radiology through innovation in clinical value, technology, service, and economics. The addition of Gov. Hogan is expected to strengthen RP’s efforts in policy strategy, public health initiatives, and long-term vision for patient-centered radiology care.

Hogan’s personal journey as a cancer survivor gives him a unique patient perspective on the critical importance of early and accurate diagnosis — a cornerstone of effective radiology services. His extensive government and policy background will also provide valuable guidance as the healthcare industry continues to integrate artificial intelligence and advanced technologies into diagnostic imaging.

The appointment comes at a time when radiology is playing an increasingly vital role in modern medicine. From early cancer detection to managing chronic conditions and responding to public health challenges, high-quality radiology services remain essential to effective healthcare delivery. Gov. Hogan’s board membership is seen as a significant step in bridging clinical excellence with broader healthcare policy and innovation goals.
