The St. Mary’s County Board of Elections will hold a public Logic and Accuracy demonstration on the DS200 ballot scanner on Friday, May 22, at 10 a.m.
The event takes place at the board’s office at 23250 Hollywood Road in Leonardtown. It is required by state law to confirm that voting equipment accurately records votes cast during the 2026 Gubernatorial Primary Election on June 23.
Logic and Accuracy testing, often called L&A testing, involves running pre-marked test ballots through the scanners to verify that every vote is counted correctly and reported as intended. The DS200 scanners used in St. Mary’s County are certified by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission and are never connected to the internet. The county also maintains strict chain-of-custody procedures and conducts post-election audits to protect the integrity of results.
Members of the public are welcome to attend and observe the demonstration. Transparency measures like this help build voter confidence in the election process.
Wendy Adkins, the board’s contact for questions, can be reached at wendy.adkins@stmaryscountymd.gov or by phone at (301) 475-4200, extension 1613.
The demonstration is one of the final steps before early voting begins June 11. St. Mary’s County voters will choose candidates for governor, lieutenant governor and other statewide offices in the Democratic and Republican primaries.
