The Chesapeake Baysox exploded for a season-high 15 hits and 19 runs in a dominant 19-4 victory over the Altoona Curve on Wednesday night at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie.

The Orioles Double-A affiliate improved to 12-16 and ended a six-game losing streak with its highest-scoring game since April 6, 2024. Altoona is the Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Baysox jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning after an 86-minute rain delay. Anderson De Los Santos blasted a three-run home run — his fifth of the season — off Altoona right-hander Po-Yu Chen. Carter Young added a two-run homer in the second, giving Chesapeake a 5-0 advantage.

Altoona scored once in the third on a double by Keiner Delgado. Left-hander Sebastian Gongora (1-1) delivered one of the best starts of his career, throwing six innings on just 78 pitches while allowing one run and striking out seven.

Chesapeake poured on seven more runs in the third and fourth innings. Frederick Bencosme hit his third home run in four games, and De Los Santos, Griff O’Ferrall and Tavian Josenberger added RBI hits in a five-run fourth that made it 12-1.

Ethan Anderson launched a three-run homer in the fifth, plating Young and Brandon Butterworth. Anderson finished 3-for-5, marking his sixth three-hit game of the season. He is now batting .500 (22-for-44) across 12 home games at Prince George’s Stadium.

Josenberger added a two-run homer in the sixth, and Thomas Sosa capped the offensive outburst with a two-run double. Seven Baysox batters recorded at least one RBI.

The Baysox hammered five home runs — their first five-homer game since July 31, 2022. Altoona’s Lonnie White Jr. hit a three-run homer in the seventh for the final 19-4 margin.

In a separate announcement, the Baysox and Baltimore Orioles confirmed that infielder Jackson Holliday will begin a major-league rehab assignment with Chesapeake this week. The 2022 top overall draft pick last played for the Baysox in 2023 and made his MLB debut in 2024. Holliday underwent surgery to repair a fractured right hamate bone in February and has been rehabbing at Triple-A Norfolk and High-A Frederick.

Prince George’s Stadium, located about an hour’s drive from Southern Maryland, draws fans from Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties who enjoy affordable minor-league baseball and a chance to see future Orioles stars up close.

The Baysox will try to take the series lead when they host Altoona again Thursday night. Right-hander Juaron Watts-Brown is scheduled to start for Chesapeake. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. from Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie.
