PRINCE FREDERICK — A Calvert County Circuit Court judge has sentenced a Lusby man to 66 years incarceration, with all but 22 years suspended, for attempted second-degree murder and related charges.

Khiantae Rai-Vaughn Marquez Robinson, 19, of Lusby, received the sentence on June 12, 2026, from Judge Mark W. Carmean. The charges arose from a drive-by shooting on September 16, 2025, on Golden West Way in Lusby.

Investigators from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office determined that Robinson fired two shots from a vehicle at Nicholas Derick Dwayne Smith, 25, and Timothy William White, Jr., 25, as they were changing a tire. Neither individual was wounded. Robinson was identified as the perpetrator and taken into custody after a seven-day search.

Deputy State’s Attorney Christopher J. Monte prosecuted the case.

Attempted second-degree murder carries significant penalties under Maryland law. Courts consider factors such as the use of a firearm and the circumstances of the offense when determining sentences. Suspended portions of sentences allow for supervised release under certain conditions after the active term is served.
