BOWIE — The Chesapeake Baysox fell to the Richmond Flying Squirrels 5-3 on Wednesday night at Prince George’s Stadium in a contest featuring four home runs and multiple lead changes.

Richmond took an early lead in the second inning on a Jack Payton RBI single. Chesapeake answered in the bottom half when Anderson De Los Santos led off with a double and scored on a Willy Vasquez sacrifice fly as part of a multi-RBI night for Vasquez.

Richmond regained the advantage in the third on a two-out solo home run by Parks Harber, making it 2-1. The Flying Squirrels extended their lead to 3-1 in the fifth on a solo homer by Zane Zielinski off Baysox left-hander Luis De León.

De León pitched four and a third innings, allowing three runs while striking out six, including three in a row. The Orioles’ No. 3 prospect has now recorded six or more strikeouts in four of his last five starts and ranks second on the Baysox with 64 strikeouts this season.

Chesapeake cut the deficit in half in the fifth when Carter Young delivered an RBI single that scored Vasquez. Vasquez then tied the game at 3-3 in the seventh with a solo home run, his first with the Baysox.

Richmond took the lead for good in the eighth on a two-run homer by Jean Carlos Sio off right-hander Zane Barnhart, who took the loss to fall to 1-2. Right-hander Tyler Vogel earned the save with a scoreless ninth for the Flying Squirrels.

The Baysox continue their series against Richmond on Thursday night. Right-hander Juaron Watts-Brown (0-5, 8.78 ERA) is scheduled to start for Chesapeake, while right-hander Trystan Vrieling (2-1, 4.50 ERA) takes the mound for the Flying Squirrels. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. at Prince George’s Stadium.
