The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office has announced a special traffic plan for the July 3 fireworks celebration in North Beach and Chesapeake Beach.
To help keep traffic moving before and after the event, the plan will be implemented on Friday, July 3, 2026. Traffic changes will begin around midday to support the safe and orderly arrival and departure of visitors. Bay Avenue will close to incoming vehicles once parking reaches capacity.
Traffic impacts include no left turns along portions of MD 261, no U-turns with the centerline blocked with traffic control devices, designated routes for entering and exiting the beach area, Bay Avenue closed to vehicle traffic between 3rd and 5th streets in North Beach, and most roads remaining open until parking reaches capacity.

Public and private parking lots are strongly encouraged to help avoid citations or towing. Carpooling is encouraged.
