LA PLATA, Md. — Elizabeth Dorothy Theobalds has built a distinguished legal career dedicated to public service in Charles County, currently serving as Deputy County Attorney.

Theobalds began her professional journey as an attorney with the Charles County State’s Attorney’s Office, where she managed criminal cases and supervised the Child Support Division. In 2008, she joined the County Attorney’s Office as Assistant County Attorney, serving as the lead prosecutor for the Charles County Department of Social Services in Child in Need of Assistance and Foster Care cases.

Since 2011, Theobalds has held the position of Deputy County Attorney, focusing her practice on land use, zoning and local government law. Her work supports critical county operations and development initiatives while ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks.

Beyond her county role, Theobalds has contributed to legal education as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland University College and the College of Southern Maryland, helping shape future professionals in the field.

Theobalds earned her law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Baltimore’s Robert G. Merrick School of Business.
