Navy senior Jack Tarzy (Medford, N.J.) has been named a 2025-26 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar, one of 649 NCAA Division I golfers from 210 schools to earn the academic distinction, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Monday. Tarzy is the eighth Navy golfer in program history to receive the honor and the third to do so under fifth-year head coach Jimmy Stobs.
Tarzy graduated in May with a degree in quantitative economics and a 3.24 grade-point average. Over his eight semesters at the Naval Academy, he was named to the Commandant’s List five times, the Dean’s List twice and the Superintendent’s List once.
On the course, Tarzy delivered the best season of his career as a senior, finishing among the top 10 in five tournaments and winning four of them across the fall and spring. His 72.57 stroke average for the season ranks third-lowest for a single season in Navy history.
Tarzy opened the year at the Folds of Honor Collegiate before reeling off three straight individual titles: The Goat (66-71-68, eight under par), the Commander-In-Chief’s Cup (77-72-74, 13 over) and the Nassau Intercollegiate (73-73-66, two over). Between the second and third of those wins, Tarzy served as captain when Navy beat Army in the annual Star Match in Annapolis, picking up his first singles win against the rival academy in four career tries. The victory was also the 1,200th in Navy’s all-time series against Army.
He capped the year with a fourth title in the spring, shooting five-under 208 (68-68-72) at the Golden Horseshoe Open. Tarzy’s four victories are the most by a Navy golfer in a single season since Billy Hurley won six during his senior year in 2003-04, and his four career wins are tied for third-most in program history alongside Brian Crum (2000-03).
Tarzy also earned first-team All-Patriot League and PING All-Northeast Region recognition this year, along with a spot on the Patriot League’s All-Academic Team. He finished his career with a 73.62 stroke average, the third-lowest career mark in Navy history.
Tarzy is the second consecutive Navy golfer to earn Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar recognition, following classmate Benjamin Valdez, who received the honor for the 2024-25 season.
Tarzy’s senior season also included a team milestone: Navy won the 2026 Patriot League Men’s Golf Championship in April, its first conference title since 2018, overcoming an eight-stroke deficit in the final round at West Point. Fellow senior Chip Deegan claimed medalist honors at that event, and he and Tarzy combined for six Patriot League Player-of-the-Week awards during the season.
Six of the Patriot League’s eight men’s golf programs had at least one player named a Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar this year: Colgate (4), Bucknell (3), Loyola Maryland (3), Holy Cross (2), Lehigh (2) and Navy (1).
To qualify for the honor, a player must be an academically and athletically eligible sophomore, junior or senior (or, in the NJCAA, a graduating sophomore), compete in at least half of their team’s rounds, carry an NCAA Division I stroke average below 76.0, and hold a minimum 3.2 career grade-point average, while remaining in good standing at their school.
