Calvert County has been ranked sixth nationally in the under-150,000 population category of the 2026 Digital Counties Survey, recognizing the county’s use of technology to improve government services and the resident experience.
This marks Calvert County’s fourth consecutive year among the nation’s top-ranked digital counties in this category — a streak that began with back-to-back #1 rankings in 2023 and 2024.
The survey is conducted annually by the Center for Digital Government (CDG), in partnership with the National Association of Counties (NACo), and is now in its 24th year. It recognizes counties demonstrating excellence in technology leadership, innovation, cybersecurity, digital services, data management and strategic IT planning.
“We’re honored to continue being recognized among the nation’s leading digital counties,” said Technology Services Director Stephen Pereira. “Four consecutive years of national recognition reflects our sustained commitment to strengthening county operations, improving cybersecurity and delivering efficient, accessible services for our residents, businesses and employees.”
Calvert County placed alongside York County, Va. (1st), Bedford County, Va. (2nd), James City County, Va. (3rd), Franklin County, Va. (4th) and Coconino County, Ariz. (5th) at the top of the under-150,000 category, with Transylvania County, N.C., Albemarle County, Va., and Orange County, Va. rounding out the top nine.
Award recipients will be formally recognized at the 2026 Digital Counties Awards Dinner, held alongside the NACo Annual Conference in New Orleans.
