Charles County detectives are investigating a shooting that left a 14-year-old wounded in Waldorf on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers responded to the area of St. Thomas Drive near Alderman’s Place at 3:27 p.m. Aug. 6 for a reported shooting, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. A preliminary investigation found the teen was walking in the area when a car approached; two people got out and fired shots, striking the victim in the leg.
A Maryland State Police Aviation Command helicopter flew the victim to Children’s National Hospital, according to Daily Voice. The sheriff’s office said the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
As of Friday, no arrests had been made and no suspect descriptions had been released. The motive remains under investigation, and detectives are pursuing leads.
