A house fire in Newburg left one resident hospitalized and caused an estimated $300,000 in damage Saturday morning, according to an official Notice of Investigation.
Firefighters were called to the 11705 block of Cuckold Creek Road at 10:37 a.m. Aug. 8 for a single-family dwelling fire, with Newburg Volunteer Fire Department as the primary responding agency. The fire originated in a first-floor bedroom and was discovered by the homeowner. Cause remains under investigation.
One adult was transported to Charles Regional Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, and one person was displaced by the fire, according to the notice and confirmed independently by the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s office, per Daily Voice.
The blaze caused an estimated $200,000 in damage to the structure and another $100,000 in damage to its contents. It took 62 firefighters approximately two hours to bring the fire under control.
