A 39-year-old Pasadena man has died after a crash involving a car and a motor scooter in Curtis Bay, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
Officers responded to Fort Smallwood Road and Hilltop Road around 9:40 a.m. on Aug. 24 for a report of a vehicle collision involving a motor scooter. According to a preliminary investigation, a 2016 Mazda 6 was traveling south on Fort Smallwood Road and attempted to turn left onto Hilltop Road. A 2026 Zhejiang motor scooter was traveling north on Fort Smallwood Road when the Mazda turned in front of it, and the scooter struck the passenger side of the car.
The scooter’s operator, identified by police as Robert Louis Tuite, 39, of Pasadena, was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Aug. 25.
The Mazda’s driver, a 17-year-old girl from Glen Burnie, was not injured. In keeping with standard practice for a minor involved in an incident under investigation, police have not released her name.
The Anne Arundel County Police Crash Reconstruction Team is handling the investigation. No charges had been announced as of this writing, and police described the information released so far as preliminary.
