Charles County Public Schools has appointed Nathaniel Gray as assistant principal at North Point High School, effective immediately, for the 2026-27 school year.
Gray’s appointment caps a 15-year career at the school. He spent one year as an administrative intern at North Point before this promotion, and taught special education there from 2010 to 2025. During his time in the classroom, Gray served as the special education department chair, mentored both new teachers and student teachers, and served as a class sponsor.
Gray was included in an assistant principal pool the Board of Education of Charles County approved earlier this year — a standard step in CCPS’s hiring process that allows the district to fill administrative vacancies at individual schools as they arise, drawing from a pre-approved group of qualified candidates rather than running a new search each time.
North Point, which opened in 2005, is the largest high school in Charles County, enrolling roughly 1,960 students with about 123 full-time-equivalent teaching staff. The school operates both as a comprehensive high school and as a Science, Technology and Industry magnet program, drawing students from across the county in addition to its home attendance zone. Daniel Kaple has served as principal since 2017.
North Point’s special education department has a track record of recognition within the district; a North Point special education teacher previously received a countywide award from the district’s Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee, reflecting the kind of departmental culture Gray spent 15 years working within before his move into administration.
