The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating an early-morning vehicle fire that destroyed two cars in the 10 block of Jameson Court in Indian Head, officials said.
The fire was reported around 1:27 a.m. Sept. 17 and involved a Lexus LS400 and a Mercedes C240, according to the fire marshal’s office. The vehicles’ owner discovered the fire, and the Indian Head Volunteer Fire Department brought it under control within 20 minutes with four firefighters responding on a single alarm.
No injuries were reported, and no one was displaced. Investigators estimated the loss at roughly $8,000. The fire marshal’s office said the fire originated at the rear passenger side of one of the vehicles and ruled the cause incendiary, meaning investigators believe it was deliberately set. No arrests had been made as of the notice’s release.

The fire is the latest in a string of suspected arson cases across Charles County this year. A Waldorf man was charged with arson after a July house fire in Port Tobacco, and investigators determined an apartment building fire in Waldorf was intentionally set earlier this summer. In July, a garage and three vehicles were destroyed in a fire in Welcome. Just this week, the fire marshal’s office also tied a Waldorf arson charge to a domestic dispute.
