The Maryland Southern Regional Choir (MSRC) will celebrate its fourth anniversary Saturday, Oct. 3, at 4 p.m. at Union Bethel AME Church in Brandywine, under the theme “Many Voices, One Sound.”
MSRC was founded in 2023 by Phillip Carter and Elder Maurice Hunt with the goal of bringing singers from across Southern Maryland together, drawing members from different churches, denominations and communities united by a shared love of Gospel music.
“When we started MSRC, we simply wanted to bring people together who love to sing and give them an opportunity to make great music together,” Carter said. “Four years later, we are still growing, still singing, and still working to build something special here in Southern Maryland. We are grateful for everyone who has supported us along the way.”
Joining MSRC for the anniversary celebration will be The Brown Four, a Gospel group from Memphis, Tennessee, along with Gospel artist Jeremiah Hicks. The program will feature both traditional and contemporary Gospel music, including selections that have become staples of the choir’s repertoire.
Carter said the event is open to anyone interested in an afternoon of Gospel music, regardless of church affiliation.
“We want people from throughout Southern Maryland and the surrounding area to come and celebrate with us,” Carter said. “Whether you attend church every Sunday, sing in a choir, love Gospel music, or simply want to enjoy an afternoon of good music, you are welcome.”
