A MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital leader, an Army veteran who runs an IT firm and a human resources professional have joined the College of Southern Maryland Foundation’s board of directors, the college announced Oct. 12.
The foundation is the college’s fundraising arm. It connects donors and regional partners with students and helps pay for scholarships, academic resources and new educational pathways, according to CSM. The board has 17 members, who serve three-year terms and may be renewed twice.
“Each one brings unique experiences, talents, and connections to Southern Maryland that will help strengthen the Foundation’s mission,” said Susan Mudd Vogel, the foundation’s executive director.
The new members
Pam Barnard is director of patient experience transformation at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown. She leads efforts to improve patient care and satisfaction and helps run the hospital’s SPIRIT Awards, which honor staff for exceptional care. She brings experience in health care administration and workforce development.
Destiny Hunter, a 2015 CSM graduate, is a decorated U.S. Army veteran and the founder and managing member of Kuinua Tech LLC, an IT consulting firm. In 2023 she established the Kuinua Together Annual Scholarship for CSM students pursuing associate degrees in information systems, computer science, or cybersecurity and information technology.
Kelly Williams, a 2010 CSM graduate, is a human resources professional at ASEC, a Department of Defense contractor. She earned her associate degree as an adult learner while working and raising a family, and she plans to advocate for accessible education as a path to economic mobility, the college said.
CSM has campuses in La Plata, Leonardtown, Prince Frederick and Hughesville. In September, the college honored the second class of its leadership academy.
