ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Cedar Crest took a set off St. Mary’s College of Maryland volleyball Saturday. The Seahawks answered by giving up just 21 points over the next two, beating the Falcons 3-1 at Lees Gymnasium to stay perfect in United East Conference play.

The Oct. 24 win, by set scores of 25-23, 17-25, 25-12 and 25-9, moved St. Mary’s College to 19-5 overall and 8-0 in the conference, according to the official recap and box score. Cedar Crest fell to 4-16 and 1-8.

Fifth-year outside hitter Julia Bobrowski, a Leonardtown High School graduate from California, Maryland, led the attack with 11 kills and added 10 digs for a double-double.

A wobble, then a rout

The Seahawks edged the first set 25-23 before Cedar Crest evened the match with a 25-17 win in the second. It was a rare tight stretch for a team coming off straight-set sweeps of Keystone and Averett and of Notre Dame of Maryland, the win that clinched a United East playoff berth.

From there, the Seahawks took over. They held the Falcons to 12 points in the third set and nine in the fourth. By match’s end, Cedar Crest had 25 kills and 25 errors on 145 attacks, a .000 hitting percentage.

Sophomore middle blocker Sanaa Porter of Toano, Virginia, added 10 kills on .389 hitting with two solo blocks and three block assists. Junior outside hitter Maya Mauro of Severna Park, an Archbishop Spalding graduate, had seven kills, and junior middle blocker Maggie Mohler of Annapolis, also from Spalding, added four kills and two blocks.

Junior defensive specialist Stella Marrero had a match-high 24 digs. Senior setter Camilla Galeano ran the offense with 21 assists, four aces and 10 digs, and senior setter Lauren Panageotou served four aces.
