The Calvert County Health Department will hold two walk-in clinics for children to receive necessary immunizations prior to going back to school. The clinics are Tuesday, Aug. 28 from 3-6 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 19 from 9 a.m.-noon. Students in kindergarten through fourth grade are required to obtain two doses of the varicella (chicken pox) vaccine. Students in seventh through 11th grade are required to have one dose of the tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine and one dose of the meningococcal vaccine.
The vaccines are free to students regardless of whether they have health insurance and will also be available for children who are unable to obtain vaccines from their primary health care provider. Vaccines will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. For questions, please call the Calvert County Health Department at 410-535-5400 or 301-855-1353, ext. 334.
