Virginia Beach, VA- The United States Geological Survey(USGS) recorded a 4.7 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Ocean City, MD Tuesday night around 6:30 p.m..
The earthquake took place approximate 136 miles offshore from Ocean City.

There are no reports of a tsunami threat or any after effects from the quake. The USGS models show the area in which any light shakining might have been felt.
The Richter scale, which is the model used to determine strength of Earthquakes, is labeled from 1 -10. A 4.7 magnitude earthquake is considered small, however they are much less common on the East Coast.
