Mechanicsville, MD- On Monday, February 10, 2020, at 3:32 a.m. the St. Mary’s County 9-1-1 Emergency dispatch, was notified by a resident of a vehicle fire on Golf Course Drive.

The Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department(MVFD) responded with three(3) firefighters and had the vehicle blaze extinguished in ten(10) minutes. The Office of the State Fire Marshal was called to investigate.

The Fire Marshal’s preliminary report states that the vehicle was reported stolen around the same time as the fire. The Toyota SUV was found burning at the end of a dead-end street near the Wicomico Shores Gold Course. The fire is believed to be incendiary and have started in the passenger compartment.

There were no injuries or deaths reported and the vehicle was completely destroyed at an estimated loss of $30,000.
