ST. MARYS CITY, Md. – The St.Mary’s College of Maryland baseball team (6-3) continued their March by hosting the Wesley College Wolverines (4-10) Wednesday (Mar. 11) afternoon at the Hawk’s nest. The Seahawks marched past the Wolverines by a score of 11-4. This gives the Seahawks their sixth win of the season.

How It Happened
- The Seahawks started out the game strong when Dillion Waters doubled, plating Joey Bryner. Then, Bowen Plagge singled which plated Jay Hammett. Next, Plagge stole second forcing an error out of the catcher which allowed Dillon Waters to score after advancing to third on Plagge’s single. This ended the scoring for the first inning. 3-0 was the score until the fourth inning where the Wolverines were able to get on the board off a wild pitch and a single.
- The bases were loaded in the fourth inning when Jake Wood got hit by a pitch which plated Tyler Taitano and advanced all of the runners. Bryner then hit a single which drove in Brady Waters and Andy Collins and advanced Wood to second. The score was 6-2 at this point. The Wolverines scored in the top of the fifth on a fielder’s choice. In the bottom of the sixth J. Bryner homered bringing in J. Wood and B. Waters. Derek Tataino scored in the bottom of the seventh off an error by the catcher and finally Collins hit a sacrifice fly to plate Plagge. The Wolverines managed to score a run in the bottom of the eighth off a single to make the final score 11-4.
Inside the Box Score
- Bryner, Plagge, and T.Taitano led the Seahawks from the plate all going 2 for 3. D.Waters, Hammett, and Wood were all also able to record hits. Bryner led the team with four RBI’s. Wood, Plagge, D.Waters, and Collins were all also able to record RBI’s. On the base paths, Plagge and T.Taitano were able to steal bases. Bryner was also able to hit an inside the park homerun.
- On the mound, Mark Smith started the game and recorded the win. He gave up three runs on six hits and was also able to record three strikeouts. Tyson Johnson relieved him and gave up one run on three hits. He was also able to record four strikeouts. Sam Roeder closed the game giving up no runs on one hit. In total the pitching staff gave up four runs on 10 hits.
