Owings, MD- On Tuesday, March 16, 2020, at 9:54 p.m., the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department(NBVFD) responded to a new home site in the area of Boyds Turn Road and Marble Lane for a reported vehicle fire.
Upon arriving, the NBVFD discovered a fully engulfed well drilling. The NBVFD had the fire extinguisher in about 20 minutes.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal was called to investigate. The fire occurred on a construction site for a new home and involved
a commercial well drilling truck. The fire was caused by a mechanical failure and determined to be accidental in nature.
The Fire Marshal estimates the damage to be $150,000.00 structure and $10,000.00 contents. No injuries or deaths were reported with this incident.
