Lexington Park, MD– On June 13, 2020 at 2:28 a.m. the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department(BVFD) responded to a structure fire on Hermanville Road.

At the time of the fire, the home was occupied by a 72-year-old female and a 12-year-old male.  The occupants were alerted to the fire by smoke detectors in the home. 

BDVFD responded with forty-two(42) personnel and had the blaze under control in fifteen minutes. The Office of the State Fire Marshal responded to conduct an investigation.

The Fire Marshal’s preliminary reports lists the fire as under investigation (as of June 15, 2020), and the loss at $25,000(structure) and $20,000(contents).

The 12-year-old juvenile was transported to an area hospital with smoke inhalation.
